What is the Georgia Mass Timber Accelerator?

The Georgia Mass Timber Accelerator serves as a launchpad for innovative wood design—offering architects, engineers and developers the resources and support to elevate mass timber projects across Georgia. This initiative helps turn a bold vision for a project into actionable reality.

2026 Accelerator Projects

The Georgia Mass Timber Accelerator continues to gain speed with three new projects in 2026 – including a diverse group of new mass timber constructions in Georgia that stem from Savannah to Atlanta!

81 Broad St.

Atlanta

South Downtown Atlanta is developing a new commercial office/tech space in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The five-story structure will span up to 40,000 sq. ft. with retail space on the ground floor and office space on the upper floors. Designed to include regional materials such as southern yellow pine (SYP) glulam or CLT, the building will also feature a basement and rooftop patio.

Oglethorpe Library

Savannah

GM SHAY Architect is designing the Oglethorpe Library – a one-story mass timber building located in the center of a highly trafficked area of Savannah. The 22,000+ sq. ft. library has been designed through concept stage utilizing the mass timber system as a fundamental aspect.

Alō Farms

Fayetteville

Jefferson Architecture is developing the world’s first controlled-environment ecological-farm to be built with locally and sustainably sourced mass timber. The15,000 sq. ft. ecological-farm and educational studio will expose customers and citizens to the benefits of mass timber and Georgia Grown products.

2025 Accelerator Projects

The Georgia Forestry Foundation, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the Softwood Lumber Board, recently awarded 75k to the 2025 selected projects for the Georgia Mass Timber Accelerator. These projects, which range from residential to community-focused developments, highlight the versatility of mass timber construction and its potential to reduce carbon emissions while contributing to Georgia’s economic growth and environmental sustainability​.
